US first press 2005. Record plays EX. sleeve has light shelf wear. Fronted by Yoni Wolf, Why? make college.alt indie that borrows elements from leftfield hip-hop and west coast psychedelic to go alongside the multiple Malkmus references. Kicking things off is 'Miss Ohio's Nameless', a track that is surely destined to soundtrack The OC in coming months (not that I watch it or 'owt) with it's string drenched choruses and harmonious time changes, a trick that is successfully repeated on the piano heavy title track. Elsewhere, '500 Fingernails' see's Wolf assuming a looser delivery, albeit on a reflective electro wired hip-pop composition, 'Next Atlanta' is how I always wished Mercury Rev sounded (i.e. Not annoying) whilst 'Pantone Cyan' is a bona-fide twinkle-toed set of gorgeous melodies. Whether it's an EP or a mini-album, it's bloody good
