US first press 1992. Record plays EX. Sleeve has light shelf wear/ ring wear.
Before they got laid-back in the sunshine in their Cali-canyon rock bands Beachwood Sparks and the Tyde, Brent Rademaker and Darren Rademaker played some spaced-out indie rock in Further. Griptape combines J. Mascis-influenced guitar noise and solos with lackadaisical vocals. "Overrated" could be a Dinosaur Jr. anthem circa Bug or Green Mind. "Filling Station" is pure post-punk bliss. "Gimme Indie Fox" revs like a poppy Sonic Youth jam, not a surprising aural reference considering Lee Ranaldo makes a guest appearance on a couple tracks. Undeservedly overlooked upon its release, Griptape is a solid, grooving guitar record that foreshadows the songwriters' brilliant work in their later bands.
